What does your home décor say about you / your lifestyle?
That we’re very laid-back, don’t take things too seriously, and live a casual lifestyle. It’s also full of our 4 furry children (2 dogs, 2 cats) that we adore to pieces (mind you, they all match my color scheme). A house full of animals makes it hard to take life too seriously! I like the bit of chaos and the happiness they bring. They remind you to stay in the moment, and so my house is really my nest. It centers me.
Do your home and personal style closely resemble each other? Are they at all different?
They are pretty dead on. I wear a ton of white, light colors, and gold — and my house is filled with light and sunshine and antique gold objects with modern white furniture. I know what I like and try to carry it with confidence. It truly is who I am, no question.
Left, Tori’s dining room is filled with clever knickknacks from Home Goods and Urban Outfitters. Right, a poster in the guest bedroom (also from Sayulita, Mexico) represents Tori and her husband perfectly.
The mantle in Tori’s living room, including a vintage gold mirror (Salvation Army), Mexican prayer candles, and white tree trunk vases from Anthropologie. The brass owls were Tori’s wedding present to her husband — he reminds her of an owl!
Left, an H&M dress that reminds Tori of the 70’s. Right, Tori’s living room — filled with wedding mementos, a vintage gold mirror, and a fireplace full of books covered in white fabric.
Did you always know exactly how you wanted to decorate your home, or has your taste evolved over time?
Every time I find a new object it evolves. I love spending a whole day in a city on foot not knowing what I’m going to find that will add another layer to my house. The core style has always been the same, but if you set foot in my house 6 months from now, things would not be in the same place, and some of this stuff would have moved on for something even better! I’m constantly inspired to make things better. My poor husband has moved enough furniture to last a lifetime.
Left, Tori’s mantle houses a thrifted gold deer (her favorite animal) and a healing amethyst stone purchased when her dog became ill. Right, Tori’s beloved husband Austin (the resident bartender) stands in front of their china cabinet full of flea market finds.
Tea cups saucers hold Tori’s earrings and milagras (tiny Mexican charms sent from a friend & said to provide protection).
Tori’s guest bedroom doubles as her dressing room! Accessories include bridal shower gifts from friends and an “h” trinket from friend / business partner Myka Haddad.
