Alaina in J. Crew. shirt and pants with Gucci flats. Her home office is filled with her favorite books and brightly colored art. Her favorite piece of art is the yellow letterpress poster that reads, “Live What You Love.”
The oversized inspiration board that hangs in Alaina’s office was one of her many DIY home projects. She covered a standard cork board with neutral-colored duck cloth and lined the edges with gold nailhead pins.

How do you add sparkle to your life and to your home?
Quite literally with sparkly things! A boy I once dated nicknamed me magpie (a bird known for hoarding shiny objects) because of my affinity for glitter, sequins, and gold. I appreciate indulging in fun, unexpected, eye-catching items. After all, life’s short, why not make it sparkle? I say get the pair of glitter heels. Wear the sequin dress on a Tuesday. Light candles when the sun goes down. And hang a disco ball in your living room. If it makes you smile, odds are it will make those around you smile, too.

Another great feature!! Love Alaina’s style – her personal and home styles play off of each perfectly. And of course Danielle’s photography is AMAZING! I bet this shoot was so fun!

It was a ton of fun! Lots of laughter! Thank you so much for your kind words.
This girl is a total hottie and uber talented. What a catch. Wonder if she’s single?
I love her living room and bedroom. So pretty and feminine.
Since it’s a girls-only apartment, I am indulging in the feminine! Thank you!
Love the way Alain has blended beautiful antique crystal, designer linens and west elm dishes. Lots of style – it shows in everything. Great photography.
I had so much fun photographing Alaina in her beautiful apartment. Loved working with Glitter Guide! Hope to do it again in the future!

Ditto, Miss Moss! Thank you so much for being a part of this project.
Love the fresh flowers and the birdcage, pictures are so natural
Love this! All the photos are so wonderful! I can’t wait to check out Alaina’s blog!
Thank you! Cannot wait to have you visit!
What a gem she is!
What a lovely feature! She has a great sense of style and positivity. It is wonderfully refreshing to see a young woman who lives with loads of style but staying within her budget. The bar area in her dining room is especially charming. Will be visiting her blog later today, thanks for the introduction!
I think she’s got a great eye…her place is awesome!
What a babe.
What a lovely home! Where can I get the black and white rug in the living room!?
It’s actually brown and white, and it’s an older style from West Elm that is no longer available. But you can find two similar styles here:
Andalusia from West Elm:

Jill Rosenwald rugs:

Hope this helps!
I love her office! It’s so unique and creative, and I’m crazy about her wall color choice!
Thank you so much! The color is Black Jack by Benjamin Moore!

So far this is my favorite feature on The Glitter Guide!
Beautiful photographs and what an incredible home! I love how resourceful alaina has been right out of college and on a budget. I’m in my 30′s and my house doesn’t look anywhere near that put together.
Thanks for profiling Alaina! I’ve been following her blog for years and it was so great to hear about her sense of style. She truly defines a “Glitter Girl”
Thank you, Colette! Your support means the world.

I have so many qualms about spending the time and money decorating my rental but this helps on the path to changin my mind! So gorgeous! It’s just hard when I know we are only staying at our place till the Boy is done with law school.
i adore the beautiful & inspirational story and photos! kudos to you! quick question… i’m dying to know where your graphic living room rug came from… would you mind sharing? thanks! xo
It’s from West Elm! They no longer offer it, but they have similar graphic styles. Thanks for all your kind words!
I really connect with what Alaina said about wanting to go in different directions and creating her life… I find what she has done so inspiring for those of us who feel the same way.
