Hi Glitter Girls, it’s Hitha, your jet setter with tips on surviving the most dreaded flight –- the red-eye.
-Stay away from alcohol. You may think a glass of red is a good idea, but instead it will actually dehydrate and lead to restless sleep.
-Drink a full bottle of water and hit the restroom before boarding. Refill the bottle and sip from it throughout the flight or whenever you wake-up.
-Reach for tryptophan-rich foods which trigger the production of melatonin and serotonin and help promote sleep. Bring boiled eggs, pumpkin seeds, cheddar cheese, or turkey slices with you and eat these healthy snacks prior to boarding.
– Hit the bathroom at the airport before boarding your flight and go through your entire night-time routine – floss and brush your teeth, wash your face, remove contacts. Maintaining the same pre-bed routine helps signal to your brain that it’s time for bed.
-Moisturize using an enriching serum, rich moisturizer, and eye cream. Also apply lotion to your hands and feet.
-When sleeping upright for 5 hours, a few small luxuries can make a world of a difference. Here are my picks for a good night’s sleep, even if you’re in a middle seat.
