Describe your philosophy behind entertaining / hosting a great party.
My goal in entertaining is for people to feel comfortable, even at home, in my space. My favorite details are always fresh flowers, moody candles, great lighting and good food. Did I mention great lighting? Yes, great lighting!

How do you prepare for a party and can you recommend a few basic tips for any host / hostess.
I wouldn’t consider myself a great cook or a good baker but I can fake it like no other! It’s all about the right atmosphere, the right setting, and the right platters/serving plates. I have hosted parties where I felt like the queen of entertaining and then I’ve hosted parties where I have felt like a complete failure. I have a few tips that I have learned (some the hard way) over the years. My first bit of advice is plan ahead. Don’t wait until the day of. You will be pulling your hair out! Also, don’t be afraid to ask friends to participate. If your friend makes a killer cheese tray, let her grace the party with her gift! And last but not least, not everything has to be made from scratch. If something comes in a box, simply put it on a pretty tray!

What is typically your design aesthetic or inspiration behind the decor when you entertain?
I love creating sparkly spaces that don’t feel stuffy or too prissy. Possibly a little glam with a little laid back bohemian. I don’t want people to feel under dressed or over dressed.
How do you set the mood? Is there a secret to a fun and lively atmosphere?
Fresh flowers and candles immediately complement any space. Also, twinkly lights hung above your guests make everything so happy! Oh and music, which is SO important!
