We recently partnered with our friends at Gilt Groupe for a fun styling session in New York City. We asked five of our favorite New York City bloggers how they would wear this Catherine Malandrino sequin skirt. What’s better than gaining style inspiration from our favorite bloggers? You can shop their looks over at the Glitter Guide sale on Gilt Groupe’s Facebook page.

Christine from My Style Pill paired the sequined skirt with her own vintage geometric blouse, a cuff bracelet and suede platform booties. She completed the look with loose wavy hair and a bold red lipstick.  Christine explained, “I wanted to keep the main focus on the skirt since it’s the statement piece so I chose this specific top to pull out the pretty navy accents in the skirt, then opted for minimal accessories to keep things simple yet classic.”

Caroline from Sweet Caroline in the City styled the skirt in a more casual way with a button up blouse, her own vest and natural make up. She added a punch of extra sparkle with glittery Pour la Victoire oxfords (available now on Gilt Groupe) and a statement necklace. ”I chose to play with textures when styling the sequin skirt with a woven cotton shirt and a canvas vest to create my perfect day look.  Adding a little glitter to a casual outfit gives it an unexpected twist, and is sure to make your day a little more fun!”

Natalie of Natalie Off Duty paired the skirt with her own orange blouse and a chic cotton blazer by Magaschoni (available here). She added a little edge with suede ankle boots. ”I’ve always loved mixing a statement piece, like the glitter skirt, with something a bit more toned down and relaxed. And because I love color, I paired the skirt with an orange sheer button down, topped off with a slim cut blazer. It’s very classic and chic. However, it still has a young, fresh vibe.” explained Natalie.

Helena from Brooklyn Blonde wore her own polka dot blouse, a statement necklace and bright pink lipstick.  ”I chose to pair the sequin skirt with a leather vest and black lace up booties to give the look a bit of an edge. Often sequins are associated with a dressy or overly feminine look, but I wanted to show that’s not always the case,” explained Helena. Helena’s leather vest by Mike Gonzalez is available for sale here.

Kim from Eat Sleep Wear paired the form fitting skirt with a billowy red blouse and added a little understated glamour with a faux fur scarf. Kim kept her look simple with black tights and booties.

All of the outfits are lovely, but I love how Natalie and Kim styled the skirt. This post comes at a perfect time, since I’ve had my eye on a few sequined pieces, but was unsure how to wear them without looking like I was on my way to a holiday party. =)
