What are your top 3 online shopping destinations and top 3 favorite boutiques to shop in person?
I shop 90% online, mostly because I’m too tired after work or too lazy to deal with the NYC crowds to trek out. But when I do make the trip, I love Jessie James in the West Village (and Hoboken!) for their great high low selection and new-to-me contemporary designers, Aritzia in Soho for their simple, but unique pieces and Darling for sweet, girly dresses.
If I’m online you can usually find me on ASOS buying piles of coats or on Gilt Groupe buying things I shouldn’t or on everyone’s new favorite online retailer, Zara!
“Our bedroom is filled with light from the second the sun rises so I wanted to keep the decor simple and airy. LOVE picture: madebygirl, Jen Ramos. Wearing: H&M Vest, Bailey 44 dress and Bauble Bar necklace.
What are your favorite hot-spots in Hoboken and where can you be found on most Sundays?
Hoboken is such a cute escape from the city, and filled with so many great gems. For brunch I love The Brass Rail with their delicious seasonal menu. For shopping, it’s Jessie James all the way, and Air Studio to swoon over things I can’t afford. But on Sundays, I’m usually heading into the city for brunch with friends, or football at our new favorite hangout, The Windsor. I also like to grab my sister and head over to one of the fleas, Hells Kitchen or Brooklyn Flea, to peruse some of the great vintage wares, sample local eats, and people watch!
Does your apartment in Hoboken directly reflect your personal style?
My apartment is always evolving so I would agree with that. I haven’t honed in on one distinct style yet, but definitely lean towards a mix of modern pieces and vintage accessories – which is very much how I would describe my style, a combination of old and new. Being married, there is definitely compromises with decorating styles, like my fuchsia armoire, but luckily we tend to gravitate towards the same concepts!
“I never leave the house without a spritz of fragrance, it is what I consider the final accessory to an ensemble. If that necklace looks familiar, that’s because it’s my attempt at the Glitter Guide/Stripes and Sequins DIY!” Fragrances: OH Lola! Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang Lovestruck, Chloe EDP, and Bottega Veneta
“Candles are an instant mood booster – I love lighting them after a long day at work and unwinding in their warm glow.”
“I have an entire drawer filled with clutches that don’t get used often enough! These have been a few I’ve been carrying as of recent” Clutches (top to bottom): Chloe, Trina Turk, Derek Lam, R&EM, L.A.M.B.
How do you sparkle?
I’m at my best when I am helping others. I tend to be the person that people come to for life advice, sewing on a button, helping them with their relationship troubles, finding the perfect restaurant or needing super glue because their heel broke! I find such satisfaction in making people’s days a little bit better and a little bit brighter, so you could say that’s where my sparkle comes from!
