“I love the whimsical feel of our bedroom. I wanted it to feel like a cloud that you can sink into at the end of the day. The palate is very monochromatic, so I added some variation with the different textures.”

“I’m a little embarrassed about the extensiveness of my nail polish collection… but then again I’m not because I just had to display it so prominently.”
What was your process for designing your home?
It’s definitely an ongoing process. I’m not gonna lie, it can be a challenge to convince my husband that we totally need soft pink walls in the bedroom or sequin pillows on the couch (he can’t wrap his head around the idea of a pillow that you can’t lay on). But once he sees the idea in context, he usually comes around. Regardless, it’s important that we have elements of both of us here. Luckily, Ian comes from a British background which definitely fits right in with my love for the union jack and other royal influences. We usually get inspired to focus on one room at a time, but of course we are never really “done”.
“I almost didn’t buy this Madewell top and of course now I wear it more than anything else. I like how the coral pleated maxi skirt (by Tibi) softens it up a bit, since I normally tend to edge it out with ripped jeans or a textured blazer.”
What are your favorite places to shop for home online and in LA?
The best places to shop for the home in LA are definitely the flea markets. My favorites are the Rose Bowl and Long Beach because they have the best selections. Many of the statement pieces in our home are flea market finds that we got for a steal. It’s so fun to grab your girlfriends and hit up the swap meet on an early Sunday morning, then celebrate your amazing finds with breakfast at Bottega Louie. I also love Matteo for bed linens. Their showroom is in a really cool space downtown and they often have insane markdowns there. Online, I love to look for vintage things on Etsy like the Life’s Little Jems Shoppe which has a well curated selection of accessories like brass figurines. Russell + Hazel is my favorite place for office accessories, both online and their flagship shop in Minneapolis – I always have to make a visit when I’m in town.

Each room in your home has a very feminine feel. How do you balance feminine and flirty pieces with modern and even funky ones?
It’s true that I love light, fluffy, and sparkly things in the home, but I’m definitely not a full-on girly girl. The place wouldn’t be complete without my little gold dinosaurs, for instance. Those touches are what keep our home from going too far to the other end of the spectrum. I think your home style can be a mix of all different aesthetics and design eras, as long as it honors you.
“This pink Myne dress has turned into a real go-to for me. It’s so easy to dress up for a wedding, or down for happy hour.”
How do you sparkle?
I love to sparkle literally, whether it’s with my favorite gold glitter belt, rhinestone loafers, or 80′s vintage sequins. But the best way to sparkle is just to make the most out of each day – drinking champagne when it’s not a special occasion, writing a handwritten thank you note, maintaining a clean and clutter free space (trying to at least), or buying fresh flowers from time to time. It keeps the mundane away!
