Does living in Texas affect the way you decorate your home?
Not at all. I lived in Los Angeles for a while and actually found a lot of my “taste” in style while I was there. I love Texas but I don’t think it shows up in the decor.
“I LOVE an inspiration board and guess what? This frame is from Hobby Lobby! I just nailed in some corkboard and voila.”
“One of my favorite pieces in the office is the wooden piece behind my desk against the wall. I found it at a vintage shop in a small town in Texas and fell in love.”
What is your favorite room in the house?
My favorite room in the house is the living room. I just love how it all came together. I have a huge love for black and white and I’ve incorporated that pairing in different ways throughout. In the evenings I’ll turn on the candles and curl up with blanket (and a glass of wine) and it’s heaven. I just love the feel of this space.
“This shot of the office really shows off my love of seafoam + orange. It’s one of the more vibrant rooms.”
Do you have any tips for styling a home office? How can women make it stylish and practical?
It’s all about how you want and need to feel to get things done in your office. How are you inspired? I’m in lifestyle, fashion and beauty PR so it is so important that the space reflect elements of all of that. I’m a huge believer that your desk should face outward or toward a window, not a wall. An inspiration board (like so many of us have) is a really great tool to remind yourself of things you want to accomplish or just things that make you feel good! I designed my office with the intent to create a space I’d want to be in even when I’m not working. When thinking of it in that way you start to add in things that give it more of a personal touch. Having a seating area is another great touch if the space allows for it. It instantly adds an inviting element to the space and of course is perfect for having client meetings.
“Clearly we love our dogs!”
Where are your favorite places to shop for home decor in Texas?
There is a store here in Austin called Back Home that is my absolute FAVORITE! It’s the most beautiful shop full of gorgeous modern French loft and French country type pieces. It is definitely my go-to place for decor shopping and inspiration. I mean, a home is never really “done” right? I have been finding a lot of amazing things on etsy too, so right now I’m hooked on that.
“The luxe, gold mirror framed by old wooden frames is another example of how I like to mix styles. P.S. the vase is filled with “apple tree moss” (says the florist) and it lasts a very long time with no water. I like the look of it and definitely like not having to keep up with the water.”
What was the biggest challenge in your home?
I think the biggest challenge has been giving the entire home a united vibe. I’m all about each room having it’s own identify but I like for our home to feel like it’s part of one whole style. Doing that has been challenging but I think we’ve got it down. Always a work in progress that’s for sure.
“One of the sweetest most loving dogs ever. Our baby Rain.”
How do you sparkle?
I love to sparkle in all areas of life. At home I sparkle by turning on my Edith Piaf Pandora station and cooking up a great meal in the kitchen. Toasting my husband with a glass of wine and obsessing over our dogs. Oh, and a fresh mani/pedi really helps me sparkle too!
