Style At Home: Jamie Meares of Furbish Studio

You obviously love color and pattern and do an incredible job mixing and layering them into your home – any tips for trying this at home?
I always suggest to customers to try mixing with pillows first. It’s an easy-on-the-pocketbook investment, and an opportunity to try out bold colors, crazy patterns and current trends without over-committing. On a larger scale, an easy scheme for an entire room includes a stripe, a floral, a large scale organic print, and a small scale geometric print. It’s hard to go wrong with those.

How do you sparkle?
It’s hard to talk about your own sparkle, so I asked my employees. They said I’m good at pushing people’s boundaries and limits in their home, and getting them to take the plunge to bring color and pattern and fun into their rooms. I work hard to redefine neutral, and I’m a big advocate for making your house look collected and personal, not like you furnished and accessorized it all in a day.

What a lovely and eclectic home. I love the color displayed throughout the home and that Ms Meares doesn’t conform to a particular style. Looks like she has everything she wants to be surrounded by and it is exactly where she wants it to be. What a pleasure it must be to open the door and walk into a home that is stylish and welcoming at once. So happy to see Marie Cox of Phreckles Photography on GG. Another great feature for Jamie Meares. I have enjoyed watching her star rise and the acclaim is much deserved. I sing her praises all the time that I feel like a broken record but truly she is one of my go to sources for inspiration and quite a taste maker herself. She is a mix master!
