Curl Envy

We’re wild for crazy, curly hair (see an example here), and we unabashedly envy every lady blessed with twisted tendrils. For those of us with straight locks, it can often be exhausting—dare we say futile!—to achieve curls that compare in the slightest! For instance—sleeping with hair in braids to achieve messy waves (um, does this ever really work?!), or using hot rollers for big voluminous ringlets (fun, fun, fun).

Luckily, there are some great products available that can definitely assist us in attaining the locks we so desperately desire. Paul Mitchell’s new curl line is great (not to mention super affordable!). We tried their Twirl Around Crunch-Free Curl Definer, and it’s perfect for girls who want to scrunch and enhance their waves without getting that crunchy, frizzy look.

When it comes to finding the perfect solution to achieving full-blown curls—well, we still haven’t found the ultimate fix (though we’d love to hear your suggestions!). For now, it’s certainly nice to have products that help. We recommend you take a look at Paul Mitchell’s Truth About Curls campaign to check out the curl confessions. Maybe you’ll even add your own!

  • I have naturally straight hair with a slight wave. Whenever I tried to use a curling iron I ended up with a huge overly curly mess. So…I finally bought a curling wand. It made a world of difference! I would highly recommend it to anyone with similar hair. You have way more control over what you do.

  • I’d love to know what brands of curling irons/wands work well for giving stick straight, fine hair some big beautiful curls. I have an old Con Air curling iron that works just OK, but am looking for something new. Thanks!

    • Hot Tools curling irons work really well I have found. Especially when paired with Shaper Plus hairspray…

  • I found the absolute most amazing curling iron ever created! It’s called the Bio Ionic Style Winder. I have naturally frizzy/wavy hair and it gives my hair beautiful soft curls AND volume! My hair stylist swears by it and after trying it out for myself, I am totally sold.

  • I so wished I had such beautiful wavy hair…mine is neither straight, nor curly – something that cannot be styled ever!
