Get The Look: The Vampy Lip

Pulling off runway beauty trends can sometimes be tricky, but The Vampy Lip is a definite exception. Whether you call it black cherry, bordeaux, ox blood or simply burgundy, the look is dramatic and striking, not to mention sultry. Seen on Gucci’s F/W ’12 runway, the bold pigment is perfect for Fall. This trend works on most skin tones, and pairing it with an otherwise minimal face, like a flawless foundation, a dash of blush and a coat of mascara, is key for a fresh yet stunning look.

Pro tips for application:
-Start out with exfoliated, clean lips because dark colors can highlight any dryness
-Prime with a veil of concealer
-Line the lips with a lip pencil because dark colors can bleed outside of the lips easily
-Apply a thin coat of lipstick with a lip brush, or go low maintenance and apply it from the tube
-Blot the lips with a tissue and go in with another coat of lipstick to keep it on for hours
-Go matte! Grab a tissue, separate the layers and place one of the layers over your lips. Dust translucent powder over the tissue and you’re left with a velvety result

  • That doesn’t look like Revlon Cha Cha Cherry… I would have chosen Black Cherry, Raisin Rage, or Raspberry Bite.
