Jaimi Brooks knows a thing or two about pretty things. As the founder of Fiore Beauty, a service that brings the best in pampering, from makeup artists to massage therapists, to brides, photo shoots and anyone in need of a little extra sparkle, Jaimi spends her days immersed in beauty. So it’s no wonder that her Palm Springs home is the picture of glamour. From touches of opulence to a super clean and intriguing color palette, Jaimi has created a spot at which any Glitter Girl would be proud to rest her stilettos.

  • Tell us about your home. Where’s it located? What made you fall in love with it?
Our home is in Old Palm Springs, right at the base of the mountain as you drive in from LA. My mom bought it as a single mom when I was a kid.  She made us come to Palm Springs on the weekends when that was the most boring thing ever. Through the years of coming here though, there is no place more special. It’s so beautiful, peaceful, and I’m so thankful that we have it. My husband and I wanted to take on the project of updating and redecorating it so it would be fresh and new for our family and friends to enjoy its full potential.

“This H.D. Buttercup couch is super big so we can lounge and be cozy. The house is Mid-Century which we incorporated in our design choices to some degree but overall it is very, very eclectic with a lot of ethnic prints and textures which makes it interesting and inviting. - Table is Eames, pillows are West Elm, quartz platter is the Rab Lab Kiva platter. Dress by Diane von Furstenberg.”

  • What was the process like decorating your home?
It was a constant treasure hunt! I really wanted to find the perfect special pieces to honor the house in its Mid-Century eclecticism and the fact that the house is in the desert. Editing myself was important too. For example, gold flamingos shouldn’t come to live in the desert as much as I wanted them to.

“We have a Moroccan wedding blanket as the living room rug and the shoes are Kate Spade Karolina, which I have in a bunch of colors because they are so comfortable!”

  • “Finding the perfect piece to go over the fireplace was really important because it’s at the center of our house. We went through three different metal wall sculptures — so I was basically like the Goldilocks of sunbursts but I couldn’t love this Curtis Jere piece more.”

  • How would you describe your interior decorating style?
I like lots of vintage and there has to be a good measure of glamour. It’s important to me that a home be conducive to entertaining. I love to have people all together, happy and cozy. You’ll notice the couch is huge. I started off with the idea of a little mid-century sofa. Loved the idea but what ended up was  ”couch-land” because I want to be able to have a bunch of people cuddled up having fun and that was more important than the perfect design.

“Little Molly, the best addition to any room.”

  • What is your favorite room in the house?
The backyard definitely would have to count as my favorite space here. It’s huge, peaceful, there is a bed, an outdoor shower, a hammock, an illuminated heart, and all the cacti. It’s so beautiful. You can just move from one place to another, reading, lounging, resting, and enjoying.

“I got Eames Dowel-Leg knock-offs from here (shh…don’t tell anybody) and I wish I could wrap the whole house in this metallic cow-hide rug because I just can’t get enough of it.  My gorgeous and HEAVY marble clam shell was a gift from my friends, Catherine and Janel, and I adore it.”

  • “The horse table reminds me of a Picasso painting.  The ceramic piece is vintage Italian that I got at the Perez Rd shops and the framed print came from One Kings Lane.”

  • “Dress by Kate Spade, necklace from Spike the Punch

  • “I had it in my mind that vintage orange lamps had to happen for this room.  I got lucky and found them without too much searching and then the rest of the room revolved around the lamps, which is funny because now my favorite thing is the head board which I got at 20 First Modern & Vintage.”

  • Favorite places to shop in Palm Springs, and online?
There is such great vintage mid-century decor shopping in Palm Springs! I love to go to 20 First Modern & Vintage, the Palm Canyon Galleria is amazing and then Spaces and the surrounding stores on Perez Rd. Jessica just showed me Dazzle which is a hoarders dream but it really is something to see with lots of special pieces. I love searching on Etsy for art and vintage home goodies too.

  • “The Rug is from Calypso Home, the white bedding is from Ikea, the pillows are from West Elm and the poncho is from BCBG”

  • What are your tips for styling a home on a budget?
When decorating on a budget pick a super original statement piece or two to splurge on and decorate around it. It seems like a contradiction to be budgeting to buy something pricey when there are less expensive options but it makes everything else in your home look much fancier. You can go more simple and spend less on everything else that way. We splurged on the dining room light fixture and the wall sculpture over the fireplace.  Those two things add a ton of character to our house so it makes everything else look a lot nicer.

I’m a firm believer in snatching things up because you love them, even if you’re not quite sure where they belong yet. That was true of both these set of lucite vintage lamps and the brass chest. I got Zig and Zag, the zebras from Bon Vivant and they make me happy. Decorating is about surrounding yourself with lots of things that make you happy.”

  • “We have a huge collection of California Pottery from my fabulous Uncle Jack throughout the house, like the little blue vases here that I love. The cloud prints are by Carolyn Cochrane on Etsy. “

  • “I LOVE twin beds! They’re so cute and I was so excited that it made sense to have them here! I really enjoyed picking out artwork for this room. It’s all from Etsy. Some pieces are originals, others are prints but all were very affordable. It took time but I love how it turned out. “

  • How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is unapologetically playful, unabashedly glamorous and girly, yet sophisticated and classic. Elegance is key, but always with a touch of sass and celebration. I love to pull from the ’50s — bright colors, ladylike ensembles, and plenty of jewels. In my closet you’ll find a lot of classic cut dresses, pencil skirts, sequins, polka dots, pumps, and vintage statement jewelry.

  • Does your fashion sense translate into your decorating style?
Not so much in this house. This house is a lot more laid back and organic than my personal style. There is barely any sequins at all, ha! But this is a different side of me, the weekend, Palm Springs side. My LA home looks more like an extension of my personal style.

  • We love all the orange in your home. Why did you choose that color?
Palm Springs is hot and so even though I LOVE color I wanted the house to be mostly white, neutral, and restful. But there had to be just a tiny pop of color. Orange just made sense to me as the right color. It’s high impact and a little bit retro.

  • “Our back yard is equal parts magical, rustic, vintage, and desert-y. I love it. I found this upcycled heart light from Scott Coppersmith Designs and it’s the perfect glow over backyard dinners and night-time hammock reading.”

  • Tell us about Fiore Beauty.
Fiore Beauty is an on-location beauty agency. I place Los Angeles’ most talented and loveliest makeup artists, hair stylists, nail experts, and massage therapists for weddings, editorial work, and everything else where pretty is needed in Southern California. I started Fiore when I saw that regular girls with amazing taste didn’t have access to the same level of beauty service that the celebrities I was working with did. Us Glitter Girls need red carpet looks with customer service too and that’s what Fiore brings to you. We also have a great blog with lots of beauty inspiration, product info, and beauty tips.

  • “The Ikat bowls are from Anthropologie, the orange plastic place placemats are from Maison Midi at American Rag. The glasses are vintage orange Blendo.”

  • What are the top 5 beauty products that every women should have in her home?
    1. Kate Somerville Exfolikate- Exfoliation is essential to beautiful skin and no product does it better. It comes in 3 different formulations.
    2. L‘Oreal Voluminous Mascara- Big full sexy lashes. LOVE. The fact that it’s less than $6 is an extra plus.
    3. Kate Spade Makeup Cases- Best patterns, sizes, and they stay clean.
    4. Malin & Goetz Lip Balm – It’s such a special, luxurious lip balm.
    5. Clarisonic Mia-  Just wait ’til you see how much makeup is still on your face when you think your face is “clean.” It helps in the daily exfoliation department too.

  • How do you sparkle?
By being true to myself — in my words, in my work, in my relationships. It’s not always easy but it does make for sparkly days. That and red lipstick and lots of sequins!
