Holiday Must-Haves: Rachel Roy

We’re kicking off our 2012 Holiday Must-Haves series with none other than the talented, drop-dead gorgeous businesswoman and designer, Rachel Roy! We’ve long admired Rachel’s fresh and colorful designs, and her growing business empire serves as great inspiration for young women around the world. Today, Rachel shares with us some of her favorite traditions and must-haves for the holiday season!

SONG: Baby, It’s Cold Outside—the Zooey Deschanel / Leon Redbone version from Elf. I love that movie! (image)

COOKIE: The holidays are not the same without my grandmother’s Swedish cookies…get the recipe here!

DRINK: Most people think a Hot Toddy is most known for a cold remedy, but they’re perfect as a cozy winter drink. I love Marcus Samuelsson’s take on the hot toddy; the nutmeg makes it extra festive! (image & recipe)

PARTY DRESS: The bandeau dress from my resort collection is equal parts sparkle and bright color—the perfect combination for a holiday party! (image)

PARTY SHOES: I love these embellished platforms! (image)

FAVORITE GIFT TO GIVE: I love a gift that gives back. I partnered with Deepak Chopra on a limited holiday capsule collection to benefit the Chopra foundation. Fashion with a cause! (image)

LIPSTICK COLOR: Marilyn from Rich Cosmetic. It’s just the right shade of red for the holidays!

HOSTESS TRICK: I always want everyone to feel comfortable, and I love personalizing events—small or big. I love these Pottery Barn wine charms; they allow guests to choose a favorite world destination to easily distinguish their wine glass from other guests’. (image)

DÉCOR: I have always been fascinated by birds and wings for the holidays. Ornate wings and bird ornaments are my favorite; they represent the dream of soaring while adding such an elegant feel to my Christmas tree. (image)

MOVIE: How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This movie is fun and hilarious. No one can steal Christmas!

WAY TO SPARKLE: You sparkle from the inside out—the holidays are all about being grateful.
