  • This holiday season, it seems every store has some version of an embellished stocking available, each one cuter than the next. I love stockings with adorable details, but don’t care for the hefty price that often comes along with them. And since I’m the kind of gal that tends to change her mind when it comes to decor, it doesn’t make much sense for me to spend hundreds on stockings to hang by the fire.

  • After perusing my local craft store, I found the inspiration needed to make my own embellished stockings, and for a fraction of the cost! I started with inexpensive, plain white stockings, found at a local hardware store for $9 each. I picked up a few yards of inexpensive faux fur and sequin trim at the craft store, along with yarn to make pom-poms. These make pom-pom making a breeze! I wrapped the trim around the cuff of the stockings and secured in the back with straight pins so I can change my embellishments next year if I want to.

  • For about $50 for 3 stockings, I was able to achieve a similar look to those found in my favorite shops. Try it yourself…the embellishment possibilities are endless!
