By the time February rolls around, we begin to get tired of our bland winter wardrobes—after all, a fashionista can only endure a jeans-boots-coat uniform for so long! With spring feeling like it’s nowhere in sight, it’s time to get creative with our cold weather basics. Luckily, fashion blogger and designer Rachel Parcel of Pink Peonies is here to show us how to use one versatile sweater as the foundation for three new and stylish looks. Take a look and we promise you’ll be inspired next time you peek into your closet!
The sweater: Marc by Marc Jacobs ($198)
Casual: Pair a basic sweater with textural leggings like Rachel’s leather pair, and you’ve got a chic and cozy outfit. Keep things interesting by layering on the accessories—oversized arm candy and handbags work wonderfully!
Professional: Playing with basics is always a good place to start when you’re going for a professional look. Throw a simple sweater over a cute and colorful pencil skirt like Rachel’s playful houndstooth one. To look perfectly polished, just add heels!
Night-Out: Figuring out what to wear for a girls’ night or a date can be tough in the winter when all you want to do is layer. Pull out your brightest shoes and accessories, toss a sweater over a colorful button-up, and let pops of neon keep your nighttime ensemble exciting. Rachel’s distressed boyfriend jeans are the perfect base for this put-together yet casual look.

Great styling ideas-really love how she styled all three looks especially the going out look! xo Kelley
Cute outfits! I really like the two casual outfits and this sweater looks great with pants, but I’m not a fan of pairing it with a skirt. Maybe it’s just the photo, but it looks rather bulky. I do like the idea of wearing it with a pencil skirt and turtleneck underneath, but I think the shape should be a bit slimmer, it would be more flattering on Rachel :)
Love all the looks!
