  • La Quinta, CA:
Surrounded by mountains so beautiful they hardly seem real, La Quinta is an easy-to-get-to vacation spot for anyone in Southern California. The dry heat lends itself to sitting poolside with a margarita in hand. (image)

  • Del Mar, CA:
Located in North County San Diego, Del Mar is a real gem. Sitting right on the coast, it’s warm and sunny during the day with just the right amount of coastal breeze to remind you that you’re on vacation. The small-town beach feel is perfect for those who like to sit on the beach, walk by the water, explore little shops, and eat good food. (image)

  • Coronado, CA:
The city of Coronado is a small beach community with an island feel. Located in San Diego, it was recently named best beach in the US in 2012. For a taste of history, check out Hotel Del Coronado—or, if you prefer more of a luxury beach vacation, try staying in one of the beach cottages or villas at the Beach Village at The Del. (image)

  • South Padre Island, TX:
For those who live in the middle of the US, South Padre Island is closer than either coast and just as beautiful! Repeatedly ranked as one of the top 10 beaches in the US, South Padre Island offers both Southern hospitality and the small-town charm of island life. (image)

  • Naples, FL:
Located in South Florida in an area called “The Paradise Coast,” Naples is a quaint, warm-weather getaway with stunning white sand beaches. Whether you snorkel and kayak or simply savor a favorite magazine under an umbrella, Naples is an ideal getaway during the winter months. (image)

  • Maui, HI:
If you’re a West Coaster and have a few frequent flyer miles to spare, Maui is an absolute dream this time of year. Voted “Best Island” by readers of Condé Nast Traveler for seventeen years, it’s a tropical getaway that should be on everyone’s bucket list. (image)

I noticed Puerto Rico was left off the list, but as a US territory, it’s just as easy to get to as Hawaii. Rincon is a wonderful surf town, and the island of Culebra has stunning beaches.

I love the west coast of Florida. I always go to Siesta Key in Sarasota and it is the perfect warm weather getaway with white sand beaches and lots of awesome restaurants right on the island.

I’m planning a trip to Maui for my anniversary and I can’t wait! Still looking for great boutique hotels there.
