This time of year tends to be a tricky time to shop. Many of us have tired of our winter wardrobes. While black tights and thick sweaters are the last thing we feel like wearing, it’s still too chilly in most parts of the country for spring’s floral skirts and strappy sandals. We’ve come up with a few pick-me-up pieces that you can wear now—and then translate into popular spring trends a little later on!
-
When we saw this jewel-encrusted blouse at J.Crew a few weeks ago we knew it had to be ours. J.Crew Tilda Oxford Rhinestone Top ($110).
NOW: Wear it under a striped cardigan with jeans, put a long-sleeved tee under it and pair with a pencil skirt, or let the collar show by wearing it under a cozy v-neck sweater.
LATER: Wear it with your favorite boyfriend jeans, cut-off shorts, or full circle skirt.
-
You can expect to see a lot of denim this spring, and one piece at the top of our shopping list is a good denim jacket. Old Navy Denim Jacket ($30)
NOW: Layer it up with graphic tees, thin sweaters, chambray tops, and oxfords.
LATER: Throw it on over your sundresses and spring skirts.
-
We love full mid-length skirts just about any time of the year, but spring is their ultimate chance to shine! ASOS Midi Skirt ($78)
NOW: Wear with a cozy cable-knit sweater and ankle booties. Layer textured tights for cooler weather.
LATER: The options are endless. Pair with a thin tee or tank or button-up chambray blouse. And try mixing patterns!
-
Each season we’re after a new investment piece, and this bright orange number by Josh Goot may just fit the bill. Josh Goot Dress ($515)
NOW: Wear this sleek dress under a crisp white blazer or dress it down with a denim jacket.
LATER: Let the dress do the talking. Wear with a sexy pair of strappy sandals and minimal accessories.
-
Ankle length is the trend for pants and jeans this spring, and we are smitten over this pale pink pair. Trina Turk Suki Skinny Pant ($188)
NOW: Light-colored denim works well in winter; plus, this style fits perfectly into boots and booties!
LATER: Add pops of color and punchy prints—or, keep it simple with chambray tops and denim jackets.
