A Peek At The New Furbish Studio

We’re steadfast fans of Jamie Meares and adore both her store and her blog, I Suwannee—so it’s no surprise that we’ve featured her twice before on Glitter Guide before (here & here)! Today, we are thrilled to share an exclusive peek at her newly renovated Raleigh, NC store—Furbish Studio. Talk about inspiration! We wish we were just a little closer so we could pop in ourselves—but in the meantime, these pictures will simply have to suffice!

  • Why did you decide to update your store?
We brought in a new custom furniture line we’ve been working on for months. It was so special to us that we felt as though the whole shop needed elevating to do it justice.

The shop and offices are in a turn-of-the-century warehouse. It has an amazing industrial vibe, but it needed to be brightened up a bit and made cozier. We painted the concrete floors white, added custom window treatments, gave the walls a fresh coat of white paint and added built-in shelving.

  • Tell us about the design.
The new lightness is the perfect backdrop for all of the fun color and pattern I love so much. White really makes the special moments we create in the store pop. It’s also much better for photographing vignettes in the store, which I’ll be able to do much more of now.

So many blog readers request shots of the store, so I wanted to create an environment that translates as well on the screen as it does in person.  Now, readers can look forward to more examples of my signature style on my blog, as well as inspiration and tips for creating the look in their own homes. I can’t wait to start capturing more of the fun we have styling and arranging in the shop to share with everyone!

  • What can shoppers expect when visiting Furbish?
Customers can expect inspiring and achievable vignettes, lots of traditional fundamentals given a quirky spin with mixed patterns, unexpected colors, vintage textiles and global accents. We have a huge new selection of affordable art prints, and our carefully curated selection of gifts is better than ever.

  • Are you adding any new products to the mix?
There are more rugs (old and new), lots of special tabletop items and a huge selection of my favorite design books. We have more fun jewelry and lots of new items for kids and pets.

We’re also excited to bring some new designers to Raleigh—like John Robshaw, Tulu Textiles, Coral & Tusk and Caitlin McGauley. We’re carrying the full line of Dash and Albert rugs, a longtime go-to of mine for affordable, durable and uber-stylish rug.
