Style At Home: Amanda Dawbarn Of 100 Layer Cake

[tps_header]Amanda Dawbarn has been making a name for herself as an expert on one of the prettiest industries out there, the wedding industry, as one of the creators of the fab bridal blog 100 Layer Cake. We are such big fans of the site, started with two of her friends and fellow designers. We appreciate the visual wonders and innovative ideas they share regularly. And it’s no wonder that with a job is focused in beauty and grace, that Amanda’s home would be just as chic and glamourous as some of our favorite weddings. Her Los Angeles home is filled with simple standout pieces and quirky statement accessories that pull everything together in a way that perfectly captures Amanda’s spirit, plus she and her husband have a view of the Hollywood sign from their living room—not too shabby if you ask us!

We’re such big fans of 100 Layer Cake. How did the concept come about and when did it launch?
We’re so glad you are a fan, thank you! We love Glitter Guide too! My friend Jillian got married, had a blast planning her own wedding and asked if I wanted to collaborate with her on a wedding site. I love starting fun new projects on a whim, so I agreed. At the time, I was working as a designer for an interactive firm with another friend, Kristina, who was also in the process of planning her wedding and documenting it on her inspiring personal blog. We all came together and voila… 100 Layer Cake was born in 2009! It was serendipitous — we all had a similar vision but never any mastermind plan, really. I remember how surprised we were at the beginning when we started getting lots of visitors. It grew into something we could have never imagined, out of our love for design, decorating and entertaining.
