[tps_header]Amanda Dawbarn has been making a name for herself as an expert on one of the prettiest industries out there, the wedding industry, as one of the creators of the fab bridal blog 100 Layer Cake. We are such big fans of the site, started with two of her friends and fellow designers. We appreciate the visual wonders and innovative ideas they share regularly. And it’s no wonder that with a job is focused in beauty and grace, that Amanda’s home would be just as chic and glamourous as some of our favorite weddings. Her Los Angeles home is filled with simple standout pieces and quirky statement accessories that pull everything together in a way that perfectly captures Amanda’s spirit, plus she and her husband have a view of the Hollywood sign from their living room—not too shabby if you ask us!

We’re such big fans of 100 Layer Cake. How did the concept come about and when did it launch?
We’re so glad you are a fan, thank you! We love Glitter Guide too! My friend Jillian got married, had a blast planning her own wedding and asked if I wanted to collaborate with her on a wedding site. I love starting fun new projects on a whim, so I agreed. At the time, I was working as a designer for an interactive firm with another friend, Kristina, who was also in the process of planning her wedding and documenting it on her inspiring personal blog. We all came together and voila… 100 Layer Cake was born in 2009! It was serendipitous — we all had a similar vision but never any mastermind plan, really. I remember how surprised we were at the beginning when we started getting lots of visitors. It grew into something we could have never imagined, out of our love for design, decorating and entertaining.
Now I’m dreaming of sequined pants. 100 layer cake is such a great resource!
100 Layer Cake was one of my go-tos for inspiration when I was planning my own wedding, so I truly loved reading this. And those sequined pants! Amanda is a gal after my own heart.
Love the house and btw, I see the bag of ‘Amanda’ yerba mate….is she from Argentina?!
Hi Rachel, I’m not from Argentina but I’d love to visit one day! I purchased that yerba mate at a culinary shop since it had my name on it :)
Oh haha, I see. You should visit Buenos Aires! I’m from California que came to live here a few years ago…I love it!
love her style! I would like to know what she is using to hold her desktop. I need something like that!
Thanks Sara! The desktop drawer is from West Elm. Unfortunately I purchased it a few years ago..
J.Crew should reconsider producing those amazing pants. They would sell out so fast!
So excited that I just found a new wedding website to check out as I am planning my own nuptials!

Thanks Kristina. My couch is the Petrie from Crate and Barrel.
Love your entire home, absolutely beautiful! Is the color of your Petrie couch the graphite or ebony?
Love that pink & black rug in the office! Where’s it from?
I purchased it on One Kings Lane.
Which Ikea table is it behind the couch?
Hi Mandy, it is this occasional table in white: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20209999/
Stunning home! Those pants are AMAZING!
Amanda is gorgeous and so is her home! She has fabulous style. The gold glassware collection is beautiful. I’m curious about a couple things….I love the big gold heart we get a peek of in the first photo. Is that a painting? I also would love to know where you got your lovely bright pink robe? It’s wonderful! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Thanks Allison! The gold heart was made by my wedding planners for my wedding. I’ll be showing a better photo of it for my wedding post on 100 Layer Cake on April 15! The robe is Natori, from Nordstrom.
Amanda, Can I ask you if the robe was a recent purchase? I am desperate to find one!! I love it! I didn’t see it on Nordstrom.com. Thank you.
Her home is absolutely stunning!! And I am dying over the robe/dress she is wearing in pic 14…would love to know the source! Thanks for giving us a glimpse in your home!

West Elm, a couple years back.

Hi Kate! The crown is actually a vintage ashtray from Hallmark, where I started my design career. I had the diamond made for my wedding favors and the gold pen is Kikkerland.
