5 Ways To Get Loose Beachy Waves

One style we can’t get enough of is loose waves (just one look at the J.Crew catalog and you know what we’re talking about!). Timelessly beautiful, it’s an easy-going, undone and effortless look that’s never out of style. Since few people naturally have hair that forms perfectly soft waves, we’re sharing several different (and easy) ways for you to achieve this look.

  • Braids & Blow Dryer
For those of you with fine hair, The Beauty Department has a great tutorial for getting barely there waves that look totally natural. All you need is a little mousse and a blow dryer!

  • Hot Rollers
If volume and bounce are what you’re after, hot rollers should be your new best friend. They’re easy to use, plus you’ll get a little extra time to savor your morning and sip your coffee while you let them set. A win-win!

  • Overnight Headband Curls
Short on time in the morning? With a little prep the night before, you can wake up to pretty, soft waves. The best part? There’s no heat involved, so you get all the style without any of the damage.

  • Curling Iron,  Curling Wand or Straight Iron
When it comes to heat styling, these are three very similar ways to get those loose waves you want—it’s really just a matter of preference. A curling iron will give you curl throughout the ends, while a curling wand and straight iron will help you achieve a more beach-inspired wavy look.

  • Overnight French Braids
French braids are an easy way to get beachy loose waves without any heat. Just mist your hair a little before braiding, then fall asleep. So easy!

I show at night and then put in the Sauve argan oil. I sleep on it wet, and wake up and put a few curls it. With the oil, my hair is never frizzy in the morning.

I may have to try a few of these once my hair gets a little bit longer. My hair is fine and stick-straight, so I need all the help I can get when it comes to curly/wavy hairstyles!

  • Folle de Joie

I totally need this look for Spring! I love the effect I achieve with hot rollers.
