Pop.Clink.Fizz: Cinco De Mayo Margarita

We don’t really need an excuse like Cinco De Mayo to sip a Margarita or nibble on tortilla chips and guacamole, as this combo is a favorite of ours year round! But we certainly will be taking advantage of the holiday to partake in these treats. For those indulging in Mexican feasts and Cinco De Mayo festivities this weekend, forget the sugar laden store bought Margarita mixes and try making your own fresh cocktail instead. This recipe, created by our Editorial Director, Caitlin, with the help of her friend is the perfect indulgence for a day in the sun anytime of year.

Makes 1 serving.  This recipe easily doubles, triples etc. for a pitcher.

1.5 parts tequila
1.5 parts triple sec (It’s worth springing for Cointreau)
1 part FRESH lime juice
Splash of FRESH orange juice
Splash of club soda
Agave syrup (as desired)
Fine salt
Prep your glasses by slicing a lime and rubbing it on the edge. Dip edge in salt and let dry. Mix tequila, triple sec and lime juice with ice in a shaker. Pour over ice in glasses. Add a splash of fresh O.J and club soda. If you like a sweeter margarita add a bit of agave syrup to taste. Garnish with a lime. Cheers!

Can you believe my birthday is on Cinco de Mayo and I’ve never had a margarita on my birthday? That’s going to have to change!

Looks good and beautiful!! Question…you mention triple sec be replaced by Cointreau but you show Grand Marmier in photo. Is that in place of the triple sec/ Cointreau ?? It’s not mentioned in the recipe!!
