Usually it’s the bridesmaids who are expected to be at the beck and call of a bride, so we find it especially refreshing that a soon-to-be-bride would throw a lavish luncheon for her very own half of the wedding party! Before beautiful blogger Samantha Hutchinson of Could I Have That? said “I do” a mere three days ago, she treated her closest friends and sisters to a ridiculously chic soirée. Not only are we inspired by her impeccable taste, but we’re also touched by her graciousness and downright great advice. (Talk about a hip hostess!)

  • What made you want to throw your bridesmaids a party?
    Having bridesmaids was so important to me because it was an opportunity to honor my friends and sisters. I wanted to take time before the wedding festivities to thank them for all of their help and support, so I decided to host a luncheon for them at our wedding location (my in-laws’ home). It was the perfect opportunity to soak in some time with them before all the excitement set in.“I loved this lacy dress from Zimmermann.”

  • “I picked a shady spot under a giant oak tree to set up our lunch.”

  • What inspired your design/color scheme?
    I’m a huge fan of limoge China and have started a mini collection, so it was the perfect opportunity to use it! I let that be the start of my design concept and from there, I picked a bright magenta as an accent color after spotting some adorable cocktail napkins from Anthropologie.

  • “For each place setting, I plucked a lemon from the orchard, tied a name tag to it and pinned a vintage brooch to it, which the girls also pinned to their bouquets the day of the wedding.”

  • Tell us about the menu! What did you serve your guests?
    I made an arugula salad with peaches, figs, feta cheese and candied walnuts tossed in a honey balsamic dressing, a charcuterie board, watermelon salad and a blackberry champagne cocktail. It was the perfect spread for a hot afternoon.“Watermelon salad with blackberries and basil sprinkled with lime juice.”

  • “Peach, fig and arugula salad, one of my summertime favorites.”

  • “Champagne coupes and cocktail napkins from Anthropologie.”

  • “Fixings for a champagne cocktail: St. Germain Elderberry liqueur, blackberries and champagne.”

  • What goodies were in the bridesmaid totes!?
    Spoiling my bridesmaids was beyond fun. I filled Baggu totes with monogrammed robes from Target, a beautiful Jennifer Fisher cuff, UGG Australia slippers, Joie perfume, an antique hanky and a beaded pouch from Anthropologie.“I wanted to give the girls a scent so they would wear it and always remember the day.”

  • “Bridesmaid goodies for my special gals.”

  • Jennifer Fisher cuffs that made for a few squeals when opening.”

  • Any advice for soon-to-be brides?
    Enjoy every minute and take time throughout the day to step back and take it all in.
