Stacy Smallwood Shares Her Fashion Week Must-Haves

In anticipation of NYFW’s kick off this week, we’ve been asking some of our favorite stylish ladies about their Fashion Week essentials. Today, Stacy Smallwood — owner of one of our favorite NYC boutiques, Hampden Clothing — is sharing the items she can’t live without during NYFW!

What are your Fashion Week must-haves?
A below the knee pencil skirt is a key piece for the season and why not do it in leather? And I am a sucker for a collar. I love the preppiness of it but with a leather collar it is super cool. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love an all-black outfit for NYFW?  It is always chic. And about 1 out of 3 people you see at fashion week will have a pair of Rag & Bone Newbury boots on as well! I think that lipstick is the last accessory of any outfit, but at NYFW it is hard to even pop into a restroom to re-apply. That is why I love the Nars Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl. Simple, chic, matte and it lasts forever. Some people have a lip gloss addiction but I have a blush addiction. I always like my cheeks to have a little color and this Kevin Aucoin Liquifuschia Cream Blush is perfect.

What is your secret for surviving Fashion Week?
Uber! Ha. It is so sad but you can never get a cab when a show lets out and one time I actually missed the Rag & Bone show because I couldn’t find a cab after a previous show. I was dying! And I always have to get a latte at Billy’s Bakery. I know they are known for their cupcakes but their lattes are a special treat and I need at least 2 lattes a day to make it through after our long nights. No trip to NY is complete without a stop at The Red Cat for a glass of Rosé and the fried green beans, and we always need a little retreat to relax from the chaos and it is only a few blocks from Milk Studios. Also, I have gotten on the juice trend and I am obsessed with the Suja Green Supreme Juice. It makes me feel like I am getting my day started right and kicks things into gear.

Favorite Fashion Week memory?
Last season in Paris I was at the Hotel Le Meurice for a drink after a show and ran into Kate Moss. She was wearing only a bustier, a tux jacket, and fishnets! There are few legends in this business and she is one of them. Let’s just say I savored every sip of that drink.
