Tell us a bit about the story behind SS PRINT SHOP.
I had the idea for SS PRINT SHOP in the Spring of 2012. I would post expressions and quotes in pretty ways on my old blog each week, and as a result, they would get pinned a bunch of times. I would receive emails asking if I sold them. It then dawned on me that I could create a little business for myself. I talked to my boyfriend Neal and my blogging bestie Sarah Tucker, and they were both so encouraging of the idea. I had no expectations; I prepared some of my favorite designs (that are still in the shop today: Happy Girls & Colossians), and launched my online shop in August of that same year. I just thought, “I’ll open up a shop and see what happens!” A year later, my prints have been featured on national television, published in magazines and sold in retail stores all over Canada and the United States. I’ve always loved coming up with ideas that hit home for people. I wanted to create a brand that was wholehearted, playful, strong and charming. Coming up with cheeky slogans and playing with prints, typography and graphics was something I loved doing on my spare time. I created my very own dream job, doing exactly what I love.
