Get The Look: Sleek Wet Hair

More often than not, runway beauty trends aren’t exactly looks we would rock in our everyday lives. The wet look may be one of those exceptions, and translating it for real life can look quite sophisticated and chic. The slicked back style we saw at Balmain’s Fall ’13 runway show is very easy to adopt, and we must admit, kind of the perfect fix for a bad hair day! Kate Mara donned a wet look for the 2013 Emmy’s, and here’s how we would recreate her sleek and totally modern long bob.

1. Start by applying a smoothing serum (Living Proof Satin Hair Serum, $29) to wet hair from root to tip, brushing the hair back and blasting with a blowdryer until smooth and dry.

2. Give the hair a deep side part and add a quarter sized amount of gel (Bumble and bumble Gel, $26) at the root. Then use a hairbrush (Goody So Smooth Cushion Brush, $7.99) to slick hair back.

3. For extra hold, break out the hairspray (John Frieda Luxurious Volume All Day Hold Hairspray, $6.59) and mist the entire style, concentrating on the top of the head.

4. Tuck hair behind the ears, finishing the ends with a flat iron for extra smoothness and polish.
