How To Style Your Bar Cart

We love a home with a good bar area, whether it’s meant for a party or just mixing up a cocktail to relax with while we browse Pinterest! Last week, our founder Taylor Sterling shared two ways she’s styling Target’s sophisticated and affordable bar cart, and the gorgeous results convinced us that it’s a stylish piece that will provide a room with a little pizzazz, no matter what your style. In case you’re still not convinced, we invited two bloggers to show us what they would do with a Target bar cart. Artist and style expert Dallas Shaw, and Julia of Lemon Stripes selected two very different bar cart looks, and made our decision about how to dress up our own bar areas much harder!

How would you describe your approach to styling this bar cart in three words?
Gatsby. After. Party. A bar cart should look just as chic during the party as it does beforehand ;)

What is your favorite holiday cocktail?
Anything with champagne in it. Bellini’s are always a favorite.

What is your best advice for adding holiday touches to your home without breaking the bank?
Buy things with some sparkle that can be left out after the holidays. Skip the glitter Santa Claus, and instead pick up mix of mirrors and metallic pieces that suggest holiday when mixed with garland, but can still stay on display year round.

How do you stay stress-free while entertaining during the holiday season?
Prepare yourself beforehand. Get everything out on display before guests arrive and have some fun when they show up. Entertaining for me is less about hosting and more about spending quality time with friends and family while they are in my company.

How are you making this holiday season your kind of holiday?
I am adding decorations to the house a bit early this year so I can enjoy the season and sparkling lights for as long as I possibly can. Evenings in this time of year seem more relaxing surrounded by twinkling lights and metallic accents.

How would you describe your approach to styling this bar cart in three words?
    Clean, colorful, organized

What is your favorite holiday cocktail? I love a piping “Hot Toddy” during the holiday season and all winter long. I mix whiskey or bourbon, honey, lemon, a few cloves, and hot water for the perfect cocktail to warm you from the inside out.

  • What is your best advice for adding holiday touches to your home without breaking the bank? Holiday decor doesn’t need to be over the top. A few strategic touches here and there can make all the difference. The key is to make sure that there is a lot of warmth brought to the space. For example, wrap twinkle lights around a bookshelf or your bar cart to make the whole room sparkle and shine.

How do you stay stress-free while entertaining during the holiday season? I make sure to take some me time during the holidays. It gets crazy with my big family and all of the events that we have going on so I take some time each day just for myself to read a book, take a bath, or treat myself to a massage or pedicure.

  • How are you making this holiday season your kind of holiday? I’m going to make this holiday season my kind of holiday by carving out the time to do the things that I love to do around this time of year: Ice skating in Central Park, being a tourist at Rockefeller Center, going to holiday-themed bars and restaurants, and spending time watching Christmas movies with my husband!

Where can I purchase the make mine a double print? Is it sourced?

  • Susty

Susty Party’s striped paper straws go great in bar carts. They are super-sturdy for paper straws! They’re made in the USA, non-toxic, and sustainably sourced. Check out our own bar cart too: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/237142736602587317/
