Describe your stay at Hotel Zetta.
My husband and I were excited to spend a little time in San Francisco, our favorite city, and Hotel Zetta was the perfect getaway. Located in the heart of downtown San Francisco (a short walk to the Westfield Mall & the Union Square Trolley stop), Hotel Zetta feels like an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the busy city from the minute that you walk through the doors. The lobby is light, airy and inviting, and the decor is modern and chic, the perfect mix of masculine and feminine. The hotel’s incredible game room is perfect for some innocent fun and playfulness, and the S&R Lounge downstairs is perfect for mingling and grabbing a bite to eat before heading out on the town for the evening.
What are some of your favorite things about Hotel Zetta?
The playfulness of the hotel. Although there is so much to do in San Francisco, you could spend your entire stay inside this hotel and be perfectly content. The game room was another one of my favorite things about the hotel. No matter what your age or personality, the game room at Hotel Zetta is the perfect place for some good, innocent fun for all. Also, I loved that hotel was central, so it was easy to get almost anywhere. It is a two minute walk to the Westfield mall (fun for the girls) and all of the rooms were equipped with a Wii and other game systems (including vintage ones like Sega) in the room (fun for the boys). Yet when inside the hotel, you didn’t feel like you were in the middle of a busy city.

Tell us about your inspiration for your new skirt line, Bel and Beau.
It all started when I was on the hunt for a luxe maxi skirt. After recently having my first child, I found maxi dresses and skirts were easy, comfortable and made me feel dressed up without much effort involved (something that was important for me as a new mother running on a limited amount of sleep and limited time to get ready in the mornings). I decided that I wanted something a little dressier than the average maxi skirt, but after finding it near impossible to find a glamorous maxi skirt within my budget, I decided to make my own version of an elegant maxi skirt and it all went from there.
In creating the collection, I wanted to curate a line of feminine and classic pieces that were simple and easy-to-wear. Pieces that made women feel beautiful and elegant without a lot of extra effort. Ulyana Sergeenko is one of my biggest inspirations. The drama and glamour of her everyday style is enviable and something I aspire to. And I was also inspired by the vibrant and bold colors of many of the Spring 2012 designer collections as that season is one of my favorites of all time.
Describe your ideal customer and where you see her wearing your skirts.
Women and girls that are looking for an easy way to make a statement and want to feel beautiful in their everyday attire. I really see my customer wearing her Bel & Beau skirt anywhere, because they are made to be dressed up or dressed down. I see her wearing a Bel & Beau skirt with a blazer and flats to brunch, with a chunky knit and booties for an afternoon around town, with a lace cropped top and heels for date night, or with a sequined top and high-heeled boots for a party.
What has been your favorite moment so far of owning your own line? What are your future plans for the line?
I think my favorite part has been the encouragement and support I have received throughout this process — that feeling of community amongst other like-minded women that can relate to the idea of wanting an easy-to-wear garment that makes them feel beautiful, elegant and sophisticated.
I will be adding some playful & classic boyswear pieces in the next week and I have some new feminine, classic and elegant pieces for women and girls (think tulle, peplum, lace, and all things girly) currently in the works that will be coming to the shop in in the very near future.
