We always love to see which of our tips you’re trying, so don’t forget to share with us using the hashtag #GG5things / @glitterguide on Twitter and Instagram.

  • Try learning a new hobby this weekend, like taking a calligraphy class. Practice your new skills while writing Valentine’s Day cards for your friends and family. Our kit is from Laura Hooper Calligraphy.

  • Practice french braiding your hair, while laying in your pajamas all day.

  • Instead of trekking outside in the cold to grab brunch, host the meal in your home and serve your guests berry mimosas.

  • Clean out an old candle holder and use it to organize your make-up brushes. It’s a pretty way to display them instead of hiding them in a drawer!

  • Update your bar cart with Valentine’s Day treats and decorations, like donuts, cake pops and striped straws!

Love the idea of updating the bar cart for Valentines day! I picked up some great finds thrifting in Chicago last weekend and they’ll look perfect on the bar cart.

    Thanks for the idea!

Where did being intelligent go, ladies? Let’s write pretty, plait our hair and cook for others? It’s like women’s emancipation never happened. I like these posts – they’re cute – but it’s so frustrating that the ideas presented centre around women looking pretty, eating sweet things and generally wasting their time on new colour combinations. Why not suggest something out of the box – like Krav Maga or a local lecture? Why not suggest something current, or clever, or genuinely mentally/physically stretching?

These weekend suggestions are nice and all, but I feel like, as a reader, I’m being dumbed down. I’d love to see something different on here for once. What ever happened to empowerment? It isn’t going to come from putting donuts on your bar cart and twirling in pink, that’s for sure.

Apologies for any offence caused, but I’m just calling it like I see it.

I love these posts; such cute ideas. I really need to learn to braid and trying to french braid would be a good idea for my sunday evening, curled up with tea of course. I hope ill have a nice little break from interning.

    i write fashion columns!
