DIY: Valentine Stocking

Post-holidays, after all the celebratory chaos has subsided, we always feel like we need some extra time to bond with our significant other. Luckily, Valentine’s Day is perfectly timed for just that. If reconnecting over a box of chocolates feels a little cliche, we’re betting that trading stockings full of fun and some romantic goodies sounds like the perfect remedy! The talented teams behind The Confetti Bar and mStarr Event Design decided to extend the tradition of filling Christmas stockings a few months farther, and partnered with some fabulous vendors to create a goody-stuffed stocking especially for Valentine’s Day. The hard part? waiting until February 14 to surprise your Valentine!

  • Truth be told, we planned to have stockings from another vendor, but when they didn’t show up in time, Jessica made a trip to Goodwill, found two cable knit sweaters and sewed these up herself. Awesome right? To upcycle your own, simply take a sweater, trace a stocking shape on one side, and cut through both the front and back layers of the sweater {so you get two pieces}. Flip them inside out, sew up the sides, and flip them back right side out.

  • For their second anniversary, the cotton one, Emily gave her husband (who’s decided he’s now all about bow ties) a Fox & Brie chambray bow tie. And we decided it would be the perfect accessory to add to the “his” stocking. We think you’ll agree.

  • What better way to celebrate your love than with confetti?

  • Jennie has just recently launched a new makeup line. Isn’t the lipstick the most perfect shade of pink? And the eyeshadow is the perfect neutral to compliment any skin tone.

  • These colorful votives couldn’t be any easier to make. Mix up any color combo of watercolor paints, add lots of water, swirl around the inside of a clear glass votive with a paint brush and let dry. There’s literally no wrong way to do it.

  • Emily fell in love with this brand a couple years ago and they continue to wow with the prettiest, most feminine pj’s, robes + accessories. This new print is an exclusive for BHLDN. Match made in heaven.

  • Samantha has quite possibly the biggest variety and most charming (pun intended) selection of charm necklaces. This bee is just so sweet.

  • Tis the season for colds. Soothe your guy’s throat with some local honey and reinforce that you’re “meant to bee.”

  • Because what guys doesn’t love a cool flask? And this one is screen printed by the designer herself.

  • Inspired by a gift Emily made for her husband’s birthday, this is a super easy way to show your love. Simply print out the card, tape on a matchbook with your favorite washi pattern, and pair with your guy’s preferred cigar of choice!

  • We love everything about this card, especially that it’s letterpress.

  • Love letters look a whole lot better coming out of a supple leather envelope. And this one couldn’t be simpler to make. Find a large scrap of leather at your local fabric store, cut out a rectangle the width of the size envelope you want, fold it, glue or sew it, and tada!

  • When you think Valentine’s Day, you think hearts. When we think of hearts, we think sequins. And when you think sequin hearts, you think ban.do. Enough said.
