10 Date Night Movies To Watch At Home

Dinner and a movie is one of the most traditional dates we can think of, but sometimes we’d rather just curl up on the couch with our significant other and snack on some gourmet goodies, or at the very least, fairly priced popcorn at home. If you’re like us, you probably already have a few flicks on your permanent movie-night rotation, but we’ve got a few suggestions you may want to add to your Netflix queue!

1 of 10
  • Silver Linings Playbook: A quirky dramedy featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and a dance competition — what’s not to love?

  • How To Lose A Guy In 10 DaysMaking bets about your love life with your boss is slightly questionable, but we still love this rom-com’s non-traditional premise.

  • The ProposalIn a not-so-classic love story with classic dysfunctional dynamics, a tough boss exchanges a promotion for her employee for his hand in marriage — and her Visa.

  • Hitch“The Date Doctor,” pick-up artist Alex Hitchens (Will Smith), falls for a girl who’s not so interested in his tactics, and proves that there’s some weight behind the phrase “It’s all about the chase.”

  • When Harry Met SallyThis 80′s gem asks the million-dollar-question, can men and women really just be friends? You’ve seen versions of this plot in theaters recently, but the 1989 classic is good enough to merit another viewing.

  • Friends With BenefitsWe bet this romantic comedy was at least a little inspired by our previous date night pick. Superstars Justin Timberlake (Dylan) and Mila Kunis (Jamie) are enough to make us turn on this flick, but a hilarious plot never hurts!

  • AmelieThis eclectic French film perfectly blends romance, drama and humor, all in a dreamy Parisian setting that’s perfect for date night.

  • Sleepless In SeattleWidower Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) spills his heart on a national radio show, and an unlikely, cross-country love story ensues. With 90′s fashions re-emerging as stylish, it’s the perfect time to re-watch the risk-free classic romance.

  • Jerry MaguireWith elements of romance in a sports-centric setting, this is the perfect movie to watch with the guy who refuses to sit through another rom-com.

  • 500 Days of SummerStars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel are enough to make this offbeat romance an instant hipster classic, and the Ikea scene is almost iconic.
