  • How and when did Bustle Events get started?
I started Bustle five years ago. I was driven by my passion for the celebration of love and planning. I wanted to be the one to bring couples’ dreams to life.

  • What made you decide to work in the event planning industry?
Planning is something I’ve always been good at. I am obsessed with organization and details, so it was a simple transition. Plus, I did some corporate event planning prior to starting my business.

  • What was your inspiration when designing your office?
Our office is a shared space with Floral TheoryBliss Event ProductionsLaura Miller Design and Fox & Fawn Bakehouse. Luckily, it was a blank space with white walls and amazing worn wood floors. We all wanted a space that was clean, organized and inspiring with a fun, cheerful feeling. What we came up with was really a statement wall, which we created with a pattern out of the small triangles from Walls by Mur. The wall was so vivid that we wanted to keep everything else very simple and mostly white. We bought Lucite Ikea chairs and spray-painted the legs gold. The rest of the furniture is clean, simple and white. It is so empowering to share a space with so many talented ladies. We’re not competing; we’re working together as friends.

  • “Sharing a space with two florists means beautiful blooms. These are by Floral Theory.”

  • Do you have a favorite part of your office?
Other than the epic wall, my favorite piece is the amazing Lulu & Georgia Rug. It always gets compliments because it’s so soft and plush. I just want to roll around on it!

  • What makes Bustle Events stand out from other event planning companies?
At Bustle we really take the time to get to know our clients and actually become good friends with them. We also take on a maximum of only eight weddings per year so that we can give each couple the time and attention they need. It’s extremely important to us that we don’t become a wedding factory, and that we make each and every event personal — and soooo much fun — for our clients!!

  • “This lovely little lounge is a perfect space to chat with clients and pop the champagne. That industrial bookcase was built by my super talented husband.”

  • You’re located in Northern California as well as Santa Barbara. What are your favorite aspects of working in California?
The venues. We have the most amazing venues in Wine Country, Palm Springs, Big Sur and San Francisco. Also, the weather. Having great weather makes planning so much easier!

  • “One day I decided to get crafty, and painted these fun canvases with my 4-year-old daughter. It added such bright color to the big white wall.”

  • Describe a typical day in the office.
When we’re in our office, we are typically working on mockups. We’ll invite our clients in and set up a mock table of what the tables will look like at their actual event. I love giving them a sneak peek of their big day — plus, it allows them to see our vision in real life. If we’re not meeting with clients, we are likely chatting with vendors, getting quotes, brainstorming design concepts or working on timelines.

  • Do you have a signature detail you try to include in your events and styling?
Lately, I’ve been really into vinyl details. I have been working on custom vinyl signs. With decals the options are literally limitless.

  • “Sharing an office with Fox & Fawn Bakehouse is trouble … ha ha ha! Her cakes are so amazing. This maple sea salt cake is my most favorite.”

  • What has been the most rewarding part of owning a company?
Wow, such a great question. Hmm — I would have to say surprising myself with all I can accomplish. It feels so great to make people so happy on one of the best days of their lives.

  • “Carrying the geometric feel over to the other side of the room, we hung these fun gold wire geo pieces from CB2.”

  • How do you sparkle?
Sometimes your passion for something is what makes you sparkle. :) That is the truth for me.

Really adore that rustic shelf her husband built! Also into this idea of sharing an office space with other companies. Great for collaboration and keeping you inspired!
