Local Gems: Downtown Los Altos

Finding new local gems is one of our favorite things to do! It’s always an exciting moment to stumble upon a cool shop, a cozy café or an awesome restaurant and feel as though you’ve just discovered the next big thing. Downtown Los Altos, California is currently booming with new shops and restaurants that are both modern and family-friendly — perfect for our founder Taylor Sterling and her new baby girl to explore! She teamed up with Bugaboo to spend an afternoon strolling around town to her new favorite spots.

Taylor loves the Bugaboo Cameleon³(rd) Avenue special edition for its clean, sophisticated design and appearance. This model comes with grey blended fabric on the outside and a dark navy fishbone-stitched print on the inside. Taylor mixed in a beautiful new soft pink fabric set — which comes out today! — to make her Bugaboo her own. And the new canopy extends to shield your little loved one from the elements even more than before!

  • The Land of Nod Pop-Up Shop:
One of our favorite retailers for children’s toys, furniture and bedding is The Land of Nod. Their little pop-up shop is filled with the most darling items — and for those of us used to shopping their website, it’s especially nice to see and feel everything in person!

  • Forest On First:
Forest On First is an all-natural café and juice bar that offers a custom-made Treehouse for your kiddos to jump and play in while you enjoy a scrumptious meal! And if you feel like taking the night off in the kitchen, they even offer fresh take-home meals nightly (um, yes!).

Love the pictures! Definitely on the destination wishlist! Have you guys considered making articles/picture galleries like this in a slideshow format, similar to refinery29 so the page doesn’t reload every time? Just a thought, love the site and everything you guys do!

      Hi Caroline,
Thank you! Yes, we really want a format like that and are in works to *hopefully make that happen. The site is going to get a minty fresh new look and design this year!
