Style At Home: Meredith Miller's Bright Abode

We’re huge fans of entertaining here at Glitter Guide. And one of our absolute must-haves for a great fête? The perfect bar cart! We’ve long been fans of bar-cart brand extraordinaire Society Social — and now that they’ve launched the Real Society Social series, we get to see how their customers have styled the carts in their very own homes! We’re so excited to share photos of Philadelphia-based designer Meredith Miller and her fabulously chic home that were taken as part of the the series!

  • Tell us about your amazing background in the fashion and design industry.
I’m fortunate enough to have been brought up in the retail industry, focusing on buying but also dabbling in design and merchandising. I feel so fortunate to do what I love and be able to make a career out of it!

  • You recently decided to launch your own design business! Can you give us any details?
Yet again, doing what I love and what I’m passionate about has transpired into a business! I never had intentions of starting anything on the side of my full-time job, but after enough requests I started helping others — and two months later I’m up and running.

  • “This picture is an example of a little bit of everything. The rug was a gift from my fiancé’s mom and the picture on the right is the result of a silent auction I won at a Breast Cancer benefit. I love when something has a story; it’s better that way. The zebra rug has been with me for years — I thought I’d use it as a layer to shake things up!”

  • Valentino heels mixed with pillows I found on eBay and a bench from HomeGoods. I love hunting both online and in stores; it’s my fourth hobby!”

  • What is your favorite room in your home?
My favorite room in our house is our living room. It’s got some old family pieces, some newly purchased pieces and a lot of love! It is the perfect room for relaxing by the fire or having friends over.

  • How did you bring your own personal style into your home?
I’ve always been a fan of mixing colors, prints and materials. Our home is no exception — every room has its own personality, yet together they all somehow “work.” It’s the perfect mix of chaos!

  • It’s obvious that you love color! What were you inspired by when decorating?
I love color! It makes me happy. When picking out colors, my fiancé and I plotted out a plan and then picked all our colors by name. Seriously. Our living room is “julep green,” our sunroom is “animated coral” and our dining room is “uncertain grey” (because we just weren’t sure!).

  • “I love symmetry. I do a lot of decorating in pairs, as evidenced by these lamps. The mirror is a painted find from a consignment store near me. I love a good DIY!”

  • Describe your design aesthetic.
My aesthetic is definitely a reflection of my personality: eclectic, colorful and consisting of an abundance of pattern!

  • “This picture is the epitome of me. Metallics, animal print and all-around pattern mixing! My love of some things will come and go, but being bold is who I am — and that will never change!”

  • What advice do you have for those who want to work in the fashion and design field?
Be yourself. There are only so many skills that can be taught; the rest are just about your willingness to move forward and take risks!

  • How do you sparkle?
I sparkle from the inside out! And a little champagne doesn’t hurt the cause!

I absolutely love these wonderful peeks we get inside fashionable and inspiring women’s houses. As a Dane, it is fun to see some of the differences in general style. Makes me want to experiment more with my own interior here at home :)

Such a bright cheerful home! The blue bedroom is great inspiration while I’m redoing mine!

I feel like I could grow tired of all of those colors, but the way the rooms are decorated and accessorized makes the home look so beautiful and cozy.
