After one interior design class and a short stint at Washington Design Center, Jennifer Wagner Schmidt launched JWS Interiors. She’s been successfully creating gorgeous spaces for happy clients ever since! Her sage design advice extends far beyond the D.C. area, thanks to her blog and genius e-decor service, which equips non-local clients with design plans they can carry out themselves! As a mother of two, Jennifer has also learned to account for an element of practicality — expertly balancing utilitarianism and polish to create some seriously chic spaces. Glam and modern yet timelessly chic, Jennifer’s aesthetic is one that will never go out of style![/tps_header]
Tell us about JWS Interiors and how you started.
After earning a degree in Communications and working in the PR field for six years, I decided to make a career change and follow my passion: interior design. I quit my high-tech PR job and took Interior Design 101 at my local college. I landed a job working with high-end clients at the Washington Design Center. While at the Design Center, I learned some of the ins and outs of the design world, and, after a short stay, decided to break out on my own and start my own business. In 2006, with encouragement from both family and friends, JWS Interiors was born. I’ve been growing my business ever since while raising two daughters with my husband.

Where is the rug from under the desk????
I was ready to be critical after reading of her limited schooling and experience, but the photos are lovely, and I remember when I stepped into a career that was inapposite to what I was educated to do, because I loved the field at first sight ! At 64, I’ve been retired and comfortable since before 50, my sons are grown and gone, and I’m remarried to a woman who also lost her mate and was open to love again. So Bravo to this young lady, and I’m going to look up the desk at Z Gallery soon.
where is the black velvet chair from in the home office photo?
What color paint is that on the wall? I’m painting my MBR and want to do light grey with a touch of navy.
Where is the octagonal mirror from?
