5 Road Trips You Need To Take

When it comes to traveling, nothing promises adventure quite like a good old-fashioned road trip! Whether you’re riding solo or bonding with your bestie or significant other, road trips are an insanely fun way to see and explore this beautiful country of ours! Having taken a few of these trips ourselves, we’ve rounded up some of our favorites. • New Orleans, LA to Atlanta, GA
This is a great way to see the ‘Deep South.’ On the way you’ll pass through Baton Rouge, drive by the Mississippi River and glimpse countless other classic Southern tourist spots!

  • Portland, ME to Bar Harbor, ME
If you’re interested in experiencing New England and beautiful Maine, this road trip will be right up your alley! Be sure to stay in some of the many bed & breakfasts — and eats lots of delicious seafood along the way!

  • Santa Cruz, CA to Santa Barbara, CA
This is a beautiful way to experience the California coast. With stunning views of the Pacific, palm trees and sunshine, we’d gladly take this trip any day of the year!

  • Savannah, GA to Charleston, SC
Talk about Southern charm! Both cities are adorably quaint and relaxing. Definitely indulge in plenty of fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese and sweet tea.

  • Tucson, AZ to White Sands, NM
Looking to get on the open road and experience the beautiful American dessert? Head from Tucson to White Sands for an absolutely awe-inspiring experience.

How funny! I literally JUST did that Portland, ME to Bar Harbor, ME trip for a wedding in June. It was gorgeous, I’d definitely recommend it!

This past December, I took the road trip from Savannah to Charleston. It was wonderful!

Baton Rouge is actually west of New Orleans on I-10! Start in Baton Rouge and you’ll pass through NOLA :)

I just did Santa Cruz to Carmel. Amazing! Also, glad to see Tucson made the list!!!

While I love both Atlanta and New Orleans (and currently split my time between the two), the road trip between the two is not at all what I consider a road trip you have to take! You do not pass through Baton Rouge (other direction of nola) and the views of the Mississippi are slim. Most of the drive is through desolate stretches of Alabama, not the cute southern Alabama but the ’15 miles to the next gas station’ warnings desolate Alabama.

I’m going from Ohio to Washington in about a month, and I can’t wait to see what the northern half of the country has to offer! My parents moved back and forth from Ohio to Arizona a couple times when I was a kid, and that drive can be a bit boring!
