Nursery Tour With Christina Of Proper Hunt

[tps_header]

There’s something so very special about little girls’ rooms, and Christina of Proper Hunt has created such a lovely nursery (and playroom!) for her daughter, Cora. Both adorable spaces are filled with beautiful illustrations, playful patterns and special mementos—consider us completely smitten! Christina opened up about her décor inspiration, life’s balancing acts and, of course, the joys of raising little Cora!

What was your inspiration when designing Cora’s nursery?
When we found out that we were having a girl, I knew that I didn’t want a super girly nursery for her. I did know that I wanted her room to be a calm, soothing place for her and for my husband and me. It all started with the wall color, which I fell in love with when we first tested it on the wall. It’s a light lilac color that I knew would be a great “neutral” to go with a bunch of other colors that I wanted in her room. It’s funny how, in the end, I think her room ended up being pretty girly.

As for Cora’s playroom, the wall color was again the starting point for everything else that was to go in there. It was originally our guest room, but we decided that we (or rather, Cora) would get more use out of it as a playroom. My husband and I decided to keep the wall color—partly because we loved how Parisian-chic it was and partly, honestly, out of laziness. Who wants to repaint the walls when you already love the color, right? Plus, for Cora’s first birthday party, my husband had already painted a large canvas of the Eiffel Tower on one of the large walls, so it was the perfect jumping-off point for the rest of the space.
