A Spooky Halloween Calligraphy Workshop

[tps_header]

With an appreciation for tangible notes and traditional stationery on the rise, it makes sense that our interest in lovely penmanship has also been renewed! It’s been a while since we learned cursive—and these days, our fingers are admittedly more accustomed to keyboards and touch screens than pen and paper. Luckily, there are talented women out there like calligrapher Laura Hooper who can help us up our handwritten lettering game with lessons in the trendy and classic styles that abound on Pinterest. In the spirit of autumn, Laura partnered with event planner Emily of Karson Butler Events to put a Halloween twist on her most recent calligraphy workshop.

“We were thrilled to partner with Laura Hooper Calligraphy to host a Halloween-inspired calligraphy workshop at our East Coast design studio in Washington, D.C.,” Emily tells us. They went for a modern look by eschewing a traditional Halloween color palette for a uniquely sophisticated option: “Our color palette included blacks, silvers and green—we wanted to steer clear of the traditional orange and do something a bit different.” Pretty décor that will easily transition to other autumn celebrations—plus classic mixed metals and chic florals—round out the workshop’s sophisticated Halloween approach. Fun, festive additions (like the ‘mad scientist’ bar) work with the holiday’s playfully spooky vibe. here.

We love Pottery Barn for seasonal pieces that can be transitioned and transformed all season long. We’re already planning an autumnal look of mixed metallics for our Thanksgiving table!”
