Don’t get us wrong: We love browsing our favorite stores’ holiday collections every winter. But knowing we’ll only use the sparkly decor for one or two months a year doesn’t always leave us eager to pull out our wallets—especially when we’re already splurging on gifts, entertaining and trips to see distant family or friends. Luckily, knowing your way around some craft supplies is an easy way to remain festive and budget-friendly!
Today, traditional ceramic Christmas villages are getting a chic update, thanks to Heather Freeman of Decor Fix. Heather tells us, “When I was a child, my mom had a large collection of ceramic houses she arranged on top of our piano every holiday season. I love the idea of a Christmas village and the childhood nostalgia it brings, but I don’t really have the space (or the desire) for a full-size collection. Recently I set out to find miniature ceramic homes and take a more modern approach to the classic Christmas village. My decorating style uses a lot of white and metallics, so I decided my village would match that existing decor.” Click through the slideshow to learn how to replicate Heather’s stylishly sparkling winter wonderland.
