A Cozy New Year’s Eve In

In lieu of getting dolled up and hitting the town, December 31 often calls for a cozy night in. Today Caitlin is sharing a few ways to make a mini celebration of your own in the comfort of your living room—including an indulgent Truffled Popcorn recipe and a Champagne cocktail you won’t want to miss!

The premises of this quiet night in: cozying up to your coffee table with a soft blanket and plenty of pillows, and snacking on appetizers while you spend some quality time with your spouse or friends. Create a comfortable seating area by covering your floor with a plush faux fur blanket (we love this one—and Target has a great option, too!) and layering several large floor and toss pillows.


Keep your menu simple. The last thing you want to do is spend a ton of time in the kitchen on New Year’s Eve. Pair an intense Gouda cheese with fresh fruit. Serve a wheel of goat’s milk Brie drizzled with honey and topped with fresh herbs. “Fancy” crackers—like the fig & olive variety shown here—make your cheese platter feel a little more special.


Homemade herbed nuts are the perfect combination of salty and sweet. Not only are they always a crowd pleaser, but they also couldn’t be easier to make!

Serve your bubbly in a cocktail form this year! Simply add a splash of cranberry juice and a twist of lime for a fruity and refreshing alternative.


Take a minute (or more!) to reflect on 2014. Make a little list of all the highlights, triumphs, proud moments and exciting times from this past year.


It doesn’t get better than Truffled Parmesan Popcorn! Whip up a batch of air-popped popcorn. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter over low heat until melted, then sprinkle in a small amount of truffle salt. Immediately pour over warm popcorn. Top with shredded Parmesan cheese.
