Today, we are excited to kick off a new series called Beauty Bag Spill. Call us nosy, but we are always eager to know what’s in people’s makeup bags – what products they’re loving, their must-haves & what they can’t leave the house without every day. What better way to kick off the series than with Allure Magazine‘s Beauty Director, Jenny Bailly!
L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream: I have a mini tube of this rich hand cream in every bag, coat pocket, and desk drawer. I always use it after I wash my hands (which, between my NYC subway travels and my small children, is a lot) and it makes my skin instantly soft (but not sticky).
Shiseido Sheer Eye Zone Corrector: Heavy concealer makes me look even more tired than just rocking my dark circles. Sheer, illuminating concealer pens like this one bring the shadows under my eyes down a few notches but are totally imperceptible.
Tangle Teezer Compact Styler Gold Rush: Like many models, and little girls, I love this palm-size brush. It turns my long fuzzy hair glossy without pulling and tugging.
Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Oversized Orange, Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm in Apple a Day, Fresh Sugar Cherry Tinted Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF15: These are the three lip products that I almost always have swimming around in my makeup bag (along with about two to 10 others). I can apply them without a mirror, but they still deliver a nice jolt of color.
Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick: High-speed foundation application can end badly. So when I have about 20 seconds to even out my skin—which I often do—I grab this foolproof stick. A few dabs around my nose and across my cheeks do the trick and blend easily.
Tatcha Aburatorigami Japanese Beauty Papers: Hands-down the best blotting tissues I’ve ever used. One sheet is plenty big enough to de-grease forehead, nose, and chin without any makeup disruption.
Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Solid Perfume Compact: I always like to have a fragrance on hand—it can make me feel transformed in a split second. In solid form, this fresh, musky floral is easy to throw in my bag.
Diorshow Brow Styler: This magic brow pencil only comes in one color but works on everyone. A few short strokes fill in my brows without making it look like I filled in my brows.
Revlon PhotoReady Kajal Eye Pencil in Matte Charcoal: I am not gifted with eyeliner. But I have to really go out of my way to screw up with this soft pencil. I just push the tip of it into my lash lines and blend the color out a bit with the little sponge on the other end. For daytime, I use this smoky gray instead of black.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream: I have a sample-size hoarding problem and was thrilled to score a mini version of this rich cream for my bag. I tap it on dry patches (even over makeup) and they instantly disappear. It’s also great as a cuticle treatment or even a subtle highlighter on the tops of cheekbones.
