We adore Who What Wear co-founder Hillary Kerr for her charisma, charm and lightning-fast wit. She’s also one of our go-to girls for all things NYFW-related. As a seasoned attendee, Hillary has a tried-and-true system for surviving all of the intricacies that accompany fashion week. Lucky for us, she’s spilling some beans and giving us a peek into her professionally polished process.
What’s in your fashion-week bag?
A power cord for my iPhone, Band-Aid Tough-Strips for potential blisters, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Honey, a tin of tiny peppermint Altoids, almonds and a pen, because you never know when you’re going to need to take some old-school notes.
What’s your plan for surviving the season?
The key to February fashion weeks for me is making sure I have my cashmere DKNY texting gloves so I can quickly and easily call Uber without my fingers freezing off!
Any favorite snacks or meals you look forward to in each city?
At some point I always ended up having vodka pizza at Rubirosa with my girlfriends, which is one of my favorite NYFW moments.
Which shows are you most excited about?
Altuzarra is always one of my favorite shows, and I’m also looking forward to Victoria Beckham, Rosie Assoulin and Oscar de la Renta.
What’s your style philosophy when it comes to dressing for fashion shows?
There are so many practical things that I have to take into consideration when dressing for fashion shows, in no small part because I’m on my feet for at least 12 hours every day, running from show to show. I always check the weather on Dark Sky (one of my favorite apps) in the morning to make sure I’m wearing enough layers. Shoe-wise, I try to pick pairs that I know won’t cripple me by the end of the day. I also tend to lean more on dresses during fashion week, just because they make getting dressed and out the door a little easier!
