Nourishing, full of antioxidants and perfect for the warmer days ahead, açaí bowls are basically super–thick smoothies often topped with granola, shredded coconut and fruit. The toughest part is getting the texture just right—you want the açaí base to be thick, creamy (not chunky!) and easy to eat with a spoon.
Below is a starter recipe (which serves two), but the sky is the limit! Feel free to experiment with different mix-ins and toppings to create your ideal combination.
- 2 Sambazon Açaí Berry packs (found in the freezer section at Whole Foods or your local health food store)
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup coconut or almond milk
- Handful of spinach (optional—though we promise you won’t taste it!)
- Sliced banana, berries, granola and shredded coconut for toppings
Blend açaí packs, banana and coconut milk (and spinach, if you desire) in a blender until smooth. The mixture will be thick, but add extra milk as needed to ensure everything is completely blended. Split into two bowls and top with sliced banana, granola and coconut.
