If we were to credit one brand for the fabulous (and still rising) trend of dainty jewelry and delicate ring stacking, Catbird would be it. In 2004, they opened shop in Williamsburg, NY, filled it with local jewelers’ designs and eventually added their own in-house label, which—might we add—has garnered a cult following we are very much a part of! Most recently, Catbird opened a separate location, referred to as the Wedding Annex, dedicated to beautifully unique engagement rings and wedding bands. Today, we’re chatting with Rachel Thames, manager of the Catbird store and Wedding Annex, and Anna Mikkelsen, Catbird’s e-Commerce manager, about the most popular Catbird pieces, spring/summer jewelry trends and tips for creating the perfect stack of accessories.

Can you tell us a little bit about Catbird’s jewelry philosophy?
RACHEL: We want to make sure wearing Catbird is effortless, without losing the feel of luxury that comes with fine jewelry. Most of us wear our Catbird pieces everyday; they have kind of become second skin.
ANNA: Our approach has also turned autobiographical in the sense. So many of our customers—ourselves included—collect pieces over time to layer and stack… Sometimes to mark a special moment. We have a few customers who have bought our pavé Fairy Light band for special anniversaries or births, and add it directly to their wedding ring stack.
