If you follow us on Instagram, you probably already know that we can’t resist visiting the flower market on a near-weekly basis. There’s just something about that rush of lively colors and textures that pulls us right in. Drawing inspiration from the floral markets in her own neighborhood, Caitlin decided to treat guests at her baby shower to a DIY floral stand. Friends and family members were invited to choose, arrange and wrap up fresh blooms to take home. Below, Caitlin shares how she put the look together with a little creativity and the help of a few favorite local vendors.
“I love flowers, and so do most gals—so instead of giving out a tchotchke favor at my shower that my guests would likely toss or forget about, I let them create and leave with their own bouquets to display in their own abodes. Everyone loved this idea! Perhaps the best part was that the floral stand we created—inspired by the floral markets in Europe—provided a pretty backdrop for our outdoor brunch!”
“The project was really easy to put together. First we gathered a variety of vessels and flower buckets, and then we arranged them on potting stands. We ordered flowers wholesale from Flower Muse, but you can also pick up a wide range of colorful blooms from your local grocery store or floral shop. (Don’t forget the greens!) We also had Poppy & Scooter create small hand-lettered tags for each floral variety, which were then taped to wooden skewers and adhered to the vessels with floral tape.”
“We cut a roll of brown packing paper (picked up at a local Dollar Tree) into squares for guests to wrap around their blooms. We also put out a basket containing floral shears, scissors, twine and ribbon.”
