So you just moved into a brand new house—or decided to tackle that long-standing “blah” space once and for all—and need help getting started. What’s the first step? If you don’t consider your creative design skills on par with your taste, it might be time to call in the pros. For one Hagerstown, Maryland couple, the answer came in the form of designer Stephanie Gamble. Stephanie worked with the pair to bring cohesion and style to the home, which had served for some time as the husband’s bachelor pad. The result is the perfect marriage of design aesthetics—and a couple that is happy to luxuriate in a space that truly brings out the best in them. Today, we invite you to take a tour of this lovely Maryland home. Plus, Stephanie shares some of the details behind the design. If you’ve ever considered hiring a pro to help you bring your stylish vision to life, this one’s for you!

First things first—how did you get your start in interior design? What is it about decorating a space that excites you?
I was fortunate enough to be raised by a mother with exceptional taste, so I learned about quality and classic style from her. Professionally, it started for me after college, in my late 20s and after the loss of my mother. I realized that life is way too short to be doing something you don’t enjoy. I always had a talent for interiors and was determined to be happy doing what I loved. So I hunkered down, did a lot of research and wrote a proper business plan detailing how I was going to make it happen. I started out really small and took on one client at a time until I felt I was ready to open my store/studio, which happened a couple years later. After 13 years, I still pinch myself because I can’t believe I get to do this amazing job every day!
