Confidence provides the motivation to pursue our passions. Where we may lack in some areas, our strengths shine in others. It’s only natural to go through periods in life where we feel stuck or discouraged. That’s where self-confidence plays such a key role in success. Fortunately, confidence is something you can work toward and improve each day. If you’re in a rut, don’t worry, it’ll pass! Remember: It’s a process that takes time. Below, I’m sharing five tips to a more confident you! What ways do you boost your self-confidence? Share below.
“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” —Helen Keller
1. Have Goals
Not just any goals, but small, attainable goals. We often shoot for the stars, but get easily discouraged when we fail. Set a goal you’re likely to achieve, so when you accomplish it, you’ll feel good. For example, if you had 2,000 visitors to your blog last month, try setting a goal for 2,300 next month. A small, realistic goal like this will set you up for success in the long run. Also, try getting in the habit of making lists because it feels good to cross tasks off after you accomplish them.
2. Do Something
But not just any task, rather select a task that you’ve been procrastinating about. This can be related to any aspect of your life, like exercising or deciding to eat healthier. Whenever possible, try to complete the task at the start of your day. You’ll get it out of the way and it will set the tone for the rest of your day. (Plus, you’ll get to cross it off your list. Winning!)
3. Get to Know Yourself
We’re constantly learning new things about ourselves each day. Dive into this a little deeper by keeping a journal. Start listening to your thoughts and analyze both the positive and negative ones and what drives you to think a certain way. This may enable you to detect the negative triggers in your thinking, which you can then try to avoid in the future. When you start getting to know yourself, you’ll develop a greater self-confidence that will lead you to success.
4. Think Positive
Positive thinking brings positive results! Personally, for me it’s easier to have a pessimistic attitude, generally. However, you can actually train your mind to think more positively; it just takes some serious practice and patience. Remember, this is an action; the more energy you put into it/others, the more you’ll notice a difference. Whenever you start having a negative thought, immediately replace it with a positive one.
5. Be Generous
Cliché, maybe, but generosity is a win/win. When you’re kind and generous to others and yourself, you’ll start to notice an immediate change in your confidence. Ultimately, there’s really nothing better than the feeling of helping others. (This is definitely my favorite one on the list!) Maybe it’s volunteering at a local animal shelter or buying a cup of coffee for the person behind you on your daily Starbucks run; it can be anything.
