Welcome to the new Glitter Guide! Wow, I’m seriously overjoyed to be sharing this with you. More than a year ago, we started working on a new look and feel for the site with Christina of Paone Creative. She and her team have been incredible to work with. We started with new branding and then moved our way into the new site development.
This past year was challenging for our team knowing that we had big plans for Glitter Guide, but not being able to share how and when they would go into effect. We heard loud and clear what issues the site had and what you needed, and we took all of that into consideration with the new design.
One of the main reasons for the new look is that we wanted our site to reflect the changes that our team (and many of our readers) have gone through over the past four years. We wanted it to feel like a more grown-up version of our past site—a bit more sophisticated and clean.
When I launched Glitter Guide in 2011, I was 29 and now I’m 33, married and a mom. The same goes for many of the women on the Glitter Guide team. We feel the new GG is a better representation of who we are now and what we enjoy, and we also feel it’s going to resonate with you.
The site has also outgrown its past design. We needed to create something that was easier to navigate and reader-friendly (hello, mobile and tablet versions!). We wanted it to be much easier for you to explore and use. You can now find posts by categories, you can view slideshows with ease and you can shop stories with the click of a button. Some of my favorite features of the new site are the EXPLORE (see another example here) and SHOP sections.
This relaunch was a much bigger project than we had anticipated. Over the past four years we’ve amassed more than 2,000 posts—most of which sport a lot of large imagery. This transformation required a lot of work in terms of image resizing, category tweaking and reformatting. While there may still be a few glitches here and there, we hope that you will notice a huge difference in the way the site loads and functions for you. Also, know that we will be working hard to make sure that any new issues that may arise will be fixed in the next few weeks.
I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s been involved in this project, especially my team at Glitter Guide. They have worked their bums off to make sure that you get the very best! I can’t thank them enough for all the hours and effort they have poured into this. It means so much to me.
So, take some time to explore and enjoy the new Glitter Guide. Stay tuned for some awesome content and giveaways in celebration of #thenewGG.
