The Guest Room Essentials You’ll Want This Holiday

guest room
‘Tis the season for guests—and we are all about making our visitors feel warmly welcomed and comfortable in our homes. So, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite guest room essentials to help you prepare for holiday visitors. In the comments, please share your strategies for making sure your guests feel at home!

  1. Stillwater Carafe ($24) – You know how sometimes you wake up feeling rather thirsty? Your guests probably feel that, too. Make it easy on them and provide a carafe with fresh water.
  2. Color-Drop Stemless Wine Glass ($16) – While these are technically wine glasses, we actually love them as water glasses! Place them near the carafe for your guests to use when they need to rehydrate.
  3. Faux Fur Foxy Throw ($99) – Luxe and functional, this faux fur throw is cozy, warm and inviting. Looking for something more neutral? We also love this spotted stripe version.
  4. Solid Towels in True White ($8) – Fresh white towels evoke a spa-like feeling and never go out of style.
  5. Reading Material ($18-$20) – Our favorite is Darling magazine, a quarterly publication about redefining beauty and empowering women. If you’re hosting a dude or two, we recommend having the new Wilderness magazine within reach.
  6. Hotel Piped Trim Robe ($84) – Make your guests feel like they’re at a spa getaway when they retreat to their room by hanging cozy, plush robes for them to use during their stay.
  7. Capri Blue Winter Wonder Candle ($16) – This “spiced cider” candle has nutmeg, clove and cinnamon scents layered over fresh apple and juicy orange notes. Our tip? Be sure to light it an hour or so before they arrive to ensure the room is fragrant.
  8. Large Glass Vase ($24.99): We love the gold-colored design on this one from H&M—just add flowers!
  9. Fluted Metal Table Lamp ($135) – Even if you have overhead lighting, there’s something extra cozy about lower bedside light.
  10. Patterned Picture Frame ($9.99) – Personalize the room with a photo—or better yet, print off a nice note and the Wi-Fi password to make sure your guests feel welcome (and Internet-connected!).
  11. Beachcomber Utility Basket with Small Toiletries ($29.50+) – Inevitably, we all forget something at home when we travel. Avoid making your guest come ask for a spare toothbrush by putting together a basket of toiletries and essentials your guest may need. Think: travel-sized shampoo and conditioner, face towels, disposable toothbrush, toothpaste, ibuprofen—you get the idea!
