  • I don’t consider myself a germophobe, but I don’t understand how you’d want to store your shoes, which might potentially have dog poo on them, next to and on top of books and in a regular shelf. For the same reason I never wear outdoor shoes indoors and don’t put shoes on a chair, in the sofa or on the bed. There are lots of dirt and germs outside…

    • I don’t know, but I find the shoes most people would want to display like this are beautiful shoes that have been well taken care of and potentially never or rarely worn. I’ve got a pair of heels I’ve only worn once to a formal dinner (and only inside at that formal dinner, not on the street) that I love and could imagine being without, but don’t often have occasion to wear. Those I display on books so they can still be enjoyed.

And there are a lot of germs everywhere, especially in the home caught in fabrics such as on your bed, sofa or chair.
